Rosa V. Alvarez, age 85, of Hondo, Texas, passed away on September 6, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. Rosa was born in Hondo, on April 23, 1937, to Epifania F. and Bravilio Valenzuela.
Rosa is preceded in death by her husband: Guadalupe L. Alvarez; sons: James Edward Alvarez, Christopher Alvarez, and John Alvarez; parents: Bravilio and Epifania F. Valenzuela; sister: Lydia Carrasco; and brother: David Valenzuela.
Rosa is survived by her daughters: Elizabeth Sanchez (Rey), Sylvia Ortiz (Miguel), and Mary Soliz (Rudy); 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022, at Hondo Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at St. John’s Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Hondo Funeral Home.
