Robert Wayne Horton, 55, of Hondo, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
He was born on February 15, 1970, in San Antonio, Texas, to Lonnie and Millie Horton. Robert grew up in Uvalde, Texas, with his brother, Carl Horton. From a young age, he learned the values of family, faith, and hard work—principles that guided him throughout his life. Robert is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Tonya Horton; his children, Kirsten Munoz and husband Mario, along with their children, Jackson and Trey; Megan Dalton and husband Troy, along with their children, Sam and Koe Robert Dalton; Kaitlyn Horton and her boyfriend Jacob Garros; Mandy Horton; and Sean Horton. Robert dedicated 21 years of service as a correctional officer, where his strong character and commitment left a lasting impression. Outside of his career, he enjoyed fishing trips, taxidermy, cooking on the grill, snake hunting on backroads, and was a familiar face at Hondo Football games. He will be remembered for his love of family, his one-of-a-kind sense of humor, and his determination that inspired those around him. Robert’s greatest pride was being a husband, father, and grandfather, and his legacy will live on through all who knew and loved him.
