Rene DeLeon Vargas

Rene De Leon Vargas, age 63, of Hondo, Texas, passed away on February 7, 2026. Rene was born in Muscatine, Iowa, on August 21, 1962, to Maria Dolores and Maximino Vargas.

Rene is preceded in death by his parents: Maximino and Maria Vargas; stepfather: Paz Lara; sister: Damiana Vargas; grandparents: Emilio and Mariana Vargas; niece: Samantha Paula Vargas and her baby, Angel; and nephew: Benjamin Vizcarra.

Rene is survived by his sons: Andrew Vargas, Rene Vargas, Jr., and Sammy Vargas; daughter: Leeanna Vargas; sisters: Yvonne Vizcarra, Veronica Santoya, Aurora Vargas, and Laura Soto; and brother: Maximino Vargas, Jr.

A visitation will be held at Hondo Funeral Home, on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Services are under the Direction of Hondo Funeral Home.
