Maria Elsa Turruviate, age 70, of Hondo, Texas, passed away on February 5, 2026, in San Antonio. Maria was born in Hondo, Texas on February 12, 1955, to Dora and Jose G. Santillano, Sr.

Maria is preceded in death by parents: Dora and Jose G. Santillano, Sr.; sister: Josefina Santiano Ramirez; and brothers: Jesus Santillano, Jose Josinto Santillano, and Ernesto Santillano.

Maria is survived by her husband: Enrique Turruviate; sons: Johnny Cervantes (Maria Eugenia Ramos), Enrique Turruviate, Jr., and Angelo Turruviate; daughter: Sylvia Cervantes Chong; sisters: Diane Ramos (Gilbert), Blanca Santillano (Ronald Robles), and Manuela Santillano; 19 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Hondo Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, beginning at 4:00 p.m., followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Services will conclude at the church.
