Lucy Y. Leyba

Lucy Ybarra Leyba - a devoted wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend - gained her wings on May 14, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on June 18, 1963, in Hondo, Texas.

Lucy’s life was filled with a huge love for her family, friends, her coworkers, clients and their children. She loved to cook. She always poured all of her love into her cooking, and everyone loved her food. She was the encouraging force, guiding light and supporter of many in her lifetime.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years: Rick Leyba, children: Gina Marie Leyba, Raquel Leyba-Kennedy (Kevin), and Ryan Leyba (Brandie); 8 grandchildren: Jay Villarreal (Nevaeh), Roselyn Villarreal, Jaylyn Villarreal, Megan Kennedy, Brody Ryan Acuña, Sophia Jess Leyba-Acuña, Lana Rae Leyba, and Lucy Loren Kennedy; 3 great grandchildren: Emilia, Jolene, and Benson Villarreal; 4 honorary grandchildren: Avin J Ibarra, Logan, Alyana, and Lason Estes; and 1 brother & 4 sisters.

She is preceded in death by her parents Lorenzo & Lucia Ybarra; mother-in-law Sophia Santos Leyba; brothers Lorenzo Ybarra & Luciano Ybarra.

Lucy’s dedication to her family and kind nature touched the lives of many. She will be remembered for her smile, warmth and generosity towards everyone she met. May she rest in peace as her memory continues to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held at Hondo Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with recitation of the Rosary at 11:00 a.m., and will conclude with a Funeral Service held at 11:30 a.m.
