LTC Leslie (Les) Davis

Les Davis, 74 of Hondo, TX passed away on June 8, 2023 after a valiant battle with heart related issues.

Les was born on April 22, 1949, to Robert and Dorthalee Davis in Mount Airy, N.C. After graduating high school in 1967 from Tecumseh high school in New Carlisle, OH, he went on to study Political Science and was an ROTC Cadet at Ohio State University. Upon graduation at The OSU, he was commissioned to the U.S. Air Force for pilot training.

Les completed Pilot training in 1974 and went on to have an outstanding career as an Air Force Pilot for many years to include the following:

F-4 Phantom (Thailand/Vietnam), Shaw AFB, Bergstrom AFB

T-38 Trainer (Columbus AFB, Randolph AFB)

Hawk T1A (RAF Valley AB, Wales)

F-5 (King Fahad AB, Saudi Arabia)

C-130 Hercules (Kessler AFB, Desert Storm/Desert Shield)

Les retired from active duty military as a LTC in 1993 but went on to become an instructor pilot in the T-3 Firefly and then on to become a civilian simulator instructor pilot in the T-38.

In 2017, Les put away his pilot wings to be at home full time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Luke.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Sean, daughter Holly, grandson’s Christopher and Colby, grand daughter Abigail, brothers Woody and Casey, and sister Shirley.
