Judith Ann Lewis

January 21, 1936 — July 4, 2018

“For I know the plans I have for you” declared the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29: 11

Judith “Judy” Ann (Skinner) Lewis went to be with her Lord on July 4, 2018 at the age of 82.  A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Judy was born on January 21, 1936 in Exeter, New Hampshire. She was the second child of Ruth Emma (Blodgett) Skinner Boysen & Sherwood Skinner.

Judy lived a life of service. Serving her country as a military wife, and when she and husband, Jessie retired to their adopted home of Hondo, she served her community as a nurse at Hondo Community Hospital after receiving her LVN license at the age of 40.  She continually served her church family as a member of the choir, helping to establish the Manna Pantry program, working with the prison ministry and taking mission trips to Mexico. Jessie and Judy were blessed with a large and loving family. Between them they had 6 children; Son, Richard Lewis and wife, Gina; daughters Theresa Lewis; Debbie Fox and husband, Paul; Patricia Lewis and husband, Don Curry and son-in-law, Leonard B. Wernette. With 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, Judy and Jessie’s days were filled with laughter and joy attending as many school and sporting events as possible.

She was preceded in death by husband, Jessie Lewis, son Jessie “Pete” Lewis and daughter, Cheri (Lewis) Wernette.

Judy exemplified the meaning of service, love and compassion and was a shining example of Christ’s love“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart.

I will tell if all your wonderful deeds.

I will be glad and rejoice in you.

I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.”

Psalms 9: 1-2
