Joshua Joe Rice

Joshua Joe Rice passed away on December 29, 2025, at the age of 43. Born on October 26, 1982, he was the beloved son of Dueane Edward Rice, Sr. and Oralia Mendoza Cadena. He was the cherished brother to Dueane Edward Rice, Jr., Sarah Elizabeth Rice and Anthony Ray Rice. He was the adoring father to Alexander David Hays-Rice.

He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Bethangel, Dueane III, Ciarra, Autumn, and Zeta. His great nieces and nephews: Everette, Raiden, Huitzlin and Xianni.

He is proceeded in death by his father Dueane Edward Rice, Sr. and his brother John Anthony Rice.

Joshua was known for his loving and playful spirit. He will be remembered as the larger than life teddy bear who put all others above himself.

A visitation will be held at Hondo Funeral Home on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A second visitation will be held at Hondo Funeral Home on Saturday, January 3, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m., with a funeral service at 10:00 a.m., and will conclude with interment at Hondo Cemetery.
