Joe Allen Losack

October 18, 1948 — December 18, 2019

On Wednesday, December 18th, 2019, Joe Allen Losack, loving husband, Dad, and the best “Papaw” this world has ever known passed away at the age of 71. Joe was born on October 18th, 1948 in Freeport, TX to Dock and Lydia Losack and lived and worked in nearby areas most of his life. He graduated from West Columbia High School in 1967 and was drafted to the United States Army shortly thereafter in 1970, with honorable time served in the Vietnam war. Following his military service, he was hired by Dow Chemical where he later retired after 34 years of hard work and dedication in various professional disciplines and trades.  Not long after starting his professional career he and his wife, Barbara, decided to adopt their only child, Jeremy, in December 1982.

Joe had a life-long passion of raising livestock and he loved to involve his grandkids in feeding and raising animals. Joe even managed to sell a few cows here and there when he and the grandkids didn’t become too attached to the animals that made it to auction. Joe also loved to travel and see different parts of the country, especially if he had family in tow to experience new places together. Some of Joe’s other favorite pastimes included pulling handles on quarter slot machines, staying in the never-ending search for who made the best fudge or chili con queso and he certainly found a few contenders during his efforts.

Joe was a member of First English Lutheran Church of Damon, Brazoria Masonic Lodge #327, El Mina Shrine Temple, Knights Templar and Scottish Rite and Braz Clowns.

Joe is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Elster Losack; his son: Jeremy Losack and wife Rhiannon of Tomball, Texas; grandkids: Hunter and Emma Jo Losack; his sister Peggy Johnson of Stone Lake, WI.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Sandra Losack of Brazoria, Margie Borchardt of Damon, Dorothy Schlitzkus Elster of Damon, Dorothy Elster Everett and Wayne of Uvalde, Arnold Elster Jr. and Ruth of Needville, Allen Elster and Helene of Damon, David Elster and Missy McIver of Damon, and Annette Elster of Damon. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe is preceded in death by parents: Dock J. and Lydia Losack of Brazoria; mother and father-in-law: Arnold and Annabell Elster of Damon; brother: Billy J. Losack of Brazoria; brothers-in-law: Ed Johnson of Stone Lake, WI, Harold Elster of Damon, Owen Borchardt of Damon, and Glen Elster of Damon
