Irene Luna Mejia

Irene Luna Mejia, age 79, of D’Hanis, Texas, passed away on May 14, 2025, in San Antonio. Irene was born in Bastrop, Texas on April 5, 1946, to Reyes and Ismael G. Luna.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband of 50+ years: Ernesto “Pisto” R. Mejia, Jr.; parents: Ismael G. Luna and Reyes Valenzuela Luna; sister: Rosalinda L. Gonzales; and brothers: Ismael V. Luna, Jr., Joe V. Luna, and Luis V. Luna.

Irene is survived by her sons: Ernesto L. Mejia, III, and Isaac L. Mejia; daughter: Charlotte L. Cavazos (Andrew); sisters: Carmen L. Alvarado, Sylvia L. Felan, and Bernie L. Vasquez (Carlos); 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her uncle Epifanio “Pife” Valenzuela.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Hondo Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m., and concluding with interment at San Francisco Cemetery in D'Hanis.

A reception will be held following interment at the D'Hanis Community Center.
