Felipe O. Lascano, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on May 26, 1948, in Castroville, Texas, to his parents Braulio Lascano, Sr. and Marcelina O. Lascano.
Felipe will be sadly missed by his immediate family. Daughter Brandy Lascano, Grand son Oscar Hernandez, Jr., Sisters Maria Torres (Abelardo), Mary Helen Rymers (Ambrose Sr.†), Maria Elizondo (Rodolfo Sr.†), Marcy Snow (David), Florinda Rivera (Juan†), brothers Gerardo Lascano†, Braulio Lascano, Jr.† (Paula), Candelario Lascano, Sr. (Terry), Sylvester Lascano, Sr.† (Josie†), Raymundo Lascano† (Judy), Johnny Lascano (Lydia), Maurillo Lascano (Yolanda), Jerry Lascano, Aunt Anastacia Varela, Sunnyvale Ca., numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Growing up in the Castroville area and attending Medina Valley ISD, Felipe worked at the family business and eventually enlisted in the US Army in 1968. Felipe served and loved his country until he was honorably discharged in 1970. While in the Army he was a SP4 where he worked as a radio operator and was awarded the sharpshooter national service medal. After active-duty Felipe served in the Texas Army National Guard until 1974.
After retiring in 2012 from Medina Valley ISD, Felipe demonstrated the love for the great outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, sitting around the campfire always laughing and telling jokes. Felipe always found joy in simple pleasures and faced life’s challenges with faith, grace, and courage. His spirit will continue to inspire us all. Though he is no longer with us, his love will live in our hearts forever.
Family viewing Wednesday February 28, 2024, at 10:00 am. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am till 12:30 pm, Rosary at 12:30 pm and Service at 1:00 pm at Hondo Funeral Home, 2910 Avenue E., Hondo, TX 78861.
