Delia Carrera (Cuellar)

With heavy hearts and deep love, the family of Delia Carrera announce her peaceful passing on November 13, 2025, at the age of 70 in San Antonio, Texas. Delia Carrera (Cuellar) was born in Hondo, Texas on September 19, 1955 to Trinidad and Lorenza (Mendoza) Cuellar.

Delia was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend whose radiant spirit touched every life she encountered. Her infectious smile had a way of brightening even the gloomiest days, lifting spirits with a warmth that came from the purest place.

Born with an adventurous heart, Delia spent much of her time traveling between Oregon and Texas, where she created memories with the people she loved most. Family was the center of her world. She delighted in every gathering, every story shared, and every laugh that echoed across generations. One of her most treasured gifts was her unique ability to give each of her grandchildren a nickname—special names filled with love and humor that continue to be used today, carrying her legacy forward.

Delia is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Trinidad and Lorenza; siblings, Trinidad M. Cuellar, Jr (1948-2005) and Teodora C. Perkins (1946-2020) in the Heavens, where she is surely welcomed with open arms. She leaves behind her loving brother Felimon Cuellar (Michelle), Leonore Thomas, Lorenza Ventura (Joe) of Hondo, and Hortencia Feick (Patrick )of Fayetteville, NC.

Delia is survived by her devoted children: Brenda Hernandez (Juan), Linda Munguia (Octavio), Juan Carrera (Denise), and Reina Carrera. Her memory will also be cherished by her 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Bruce Lee, all of whom carry a piece of her kindness, strength, and joy.

Delia’s grandchildren share that being in her company was always the best! They will always remember spending time with her watching her favorite shows. Her grandchildren also enjoyed combing her hair and watching over her when she took her naps. Describing our grandma to people that never got the opportunity to meet her we say: She was a one of a kind grandma. The kind of grandma that would have you cracking up while you were around her. She may have cursed in front of her grandkids, but we loved her for it. The kind of grandma that would jump at the chance to make her handmade tortillas and refried beans for her family (& no one will ever do it like her). We hope you are making your famous tortillas for our loved ones now in heaven. She was and always will be remembered as a cool grandma. I’ll miss your laugh and smile until I get to see you again.

Our grandma will always be in our hearts. The years we had with you will never be enough and we wish we could’ve had more day, weeks, months, and years with you. We miss you with all of my heart. Thank you for being in our lives and may you rest in peace.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date in Lubbock, Texas. For inquiries, please contact Linda Munguia by text at 503-851-3662.

Delia’s legacy of love, humor, and family unity will continue to shine brightly. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
