Bertha A. Rodriguez

August 31, 1930 — April 29, 2025

Bertha Aguirre Rodriguez was born on August 31, 1930, in Hondo, Texas to Carlos and Ernestina Aguirre. She was married to loving husband Elisandro B. Rodriguez, Jr on January 14, 1946. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sons, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Armando A. Rodriguez. She follows her siblings, Salvador Aguirre, Mary Delay, Consuelo Labato, Corina Apolinar, and Lupe Sturgeon. Bertha was a proud member of St. John’s Catholic Church where she attended for years and as a member of the Guadalupana Societies.

Bertha lived a beautiful life always surrounded by family and friends. Her memory is carried on by her children; Edilia A. Rodriguez, Elsa Arredondo (Luz), Robert A. Rodriguez (Mary), Susan Rodriguez, Anna Marie Alvarez, Elisandro A. Rodriguez III (Dora) and Richard Rodriguez (Yvette). Her siblings Emilio Aguirre (Helen), Juanita Galviz and Jose Aguirre (Barbara). Grandchildren include Geneva Martinez (Steven), Stephanie Mares, Rita Morris (Barry), Joe Alex Arredondo, Tanyalee Arredondo, Robby Rodriguez (Michael), Francesca Cantera (Naul), Trisha Ytuarte, Tammy Lopez (John), Jesus Perez Jr (Tiffany), James Perez (Yvette), John Michael Alvarez (Sam), Aaron Alvarez (Victoria), Jennifer Alvarez, Cristal Rodriguez, Elisandro Rodriguez IV, John Anthony Rodriguez, Riley Rodriguez, Matthew Rodriguez (Danielle) and Tyler Rodriguez. She had 30 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

Bertha loved her family and welcomed all with open arms. She knew no boundaries on her love. No one would leave her home without being fed. In fact, she would wake up to make everyone breakfast and lunch to take to work. Lunch was always waiting for anyone who took the time to stop by, a stack of tortillas and a pitcher of iced tea always waiting. She lovingly cared for several generations of her grandchildren when she was needed. She would often serve as chaperone on school trips or in the football concession stand. In her free time, Bertha would play bingo with her friends. While she did not drive, she was an excellent co-pilot and she loved her trips to Las Vegas and Louisiana.

Bertha will live on in the hearts of the many that she loved. May she rest in peace with her loved ones.
